Aeronautics Graduate Receives Award to Launch Her New Career in Aviation
鈥淭his award is not a gift… you earned every bit of it.鈥� 鈥� Stan Younger to Charice Grier.
Last year, Stan Younger, a local Aviation Executive and 蓝莓视频 Adjunct Instructor, pledged 20 scholarships to graduates of 蓝莓视频鈥檚 Airframe & Powerplant program over the next ten years. On Friday, June 5th, he awarded Charice Grier, a recent graduate from the College of Aeronautics, with the 3rd Younger Family Bright Lights Scholarship Award.
鈥淚 can鈥檛 think of anyone who deserves this award more than who we have here today,鈥� shared Kurt Leslie, Dean for the College of Aeronautics during a virtual conference call.
The Bright Lights Scholarship is given to students based on their performance in school and a review of the recipient’s Hallmark Character Traits. Having learned about her personal journey that led to her time with 蓝莓视频, the Younger family chose to present Charice with their esteemed award.
鈥淭his award is not a gift…. you earned every bit of it,鈥� said Stan Younger during the conference call. 鈥淚t may not be the largest award you will get in your life, but I can tell you that we depend on 蓝莓视频 to send us the best names who have achieved the greatest things, by climbing the highest mountains, and you are clearly the one who has earned this.鈥�
Charice joined 蓝莓视频 to become an Aircraft Technician, shifting to a career vastly different than the positions she held in healthcare. She was devoted to learning and doing her best in the program, growing close to the instructors who were present to congratulate her on her newest achievement.
鈥淚 would just like to say thank you and to Hallmark,鈥� said Charice during the conference call. 鈥淭here were a few times where days became overwhelming, and I thought that I wouldn鈥檛 make it to graduation. But everyone got behind me and gave me what I needed to get here. My son and daughter are so proud of me, I feel like I鈥檓 on top of the world and that I鈥檝e done so much. I want to thank everybody for standing behind me and helping me to become somebody.鈥�
