Professor of Business
Dr. Lawson was born and raised in Huntington, West Virginia. After graduating from Huntington High School in 1987, he joined the United (States Army, serving on various national and international assignments. While on active duty, Dr. Lawson earned an undergraduate degree in Business Administration from Colorado Technical University. In 2008, he completed his master’s degree in Marketing; in 2009, he finished his second master’s in Healthcare Management at Colorado Technical University.
Dr. Lawson retired as a Chief Warrant Officer Four (CW4) with over 24 years of active military service in December 2011. He received his Six Sigma Green Belt certification from George Mason University in 2012. He earned a doctorate in management with a concentration in Organizational Development and Change in 2016. Dr. Lawson enjoys hiking, boating, traveling, and spending time with his family in his spare time.
Dr. Lawson is trained in diverse post-secondary teaching strategies, academic support methodologies, and collaborative student engagement programs. As a lifelong learner, he embraces various learning methods and approaches that allow consistent growth and development. Life is a journey and not a race. Dr. Lawson believes the importance of learning requires one to share gained knowledge and experiences, as success is measured not only by one’s accomplishments but also by the achievements of others around you.
